Master list of categories

Where d'you think it should go though? A site category admin page could be useful to prune empty categories maybe.

I see MU as an awesome community building tool so getting content cross blogs is key. A set of 'global categories/tags' that are set by MU admin that are populated cross all new and existing blogs. As per donncha's question, yes, a site category admin page will ease the usage of it extremely. Potentially all categories from the registered blogs could appear so that a new category can be promoted (based on total number of posts in the category/tag)! This would then be a perfect base to build a category/tag cloud to be used on the main site. This causes new challenges though (no fun coding otherwise eh ;) - maybe this can be solved by putting the first 25 words or so into a table when a post is created/updated along with the actual url to the post so it can be accessed properly! This data could potentially be cached to ease the db stress!

What's needed to make this possible for WPMU release 1?

Since I didn't know that this was updated over a month ago... :(

I'm thinking Dashboard -> Site Admin -> Categories. Alongside Blogs, Users, and Themes. I would think that this would be a good place for it.
